The Ministry of Transport and Works is scheduled to begin rehabilitative work on the Vigie Highway Project, between the Arnos Vale Roundabout and the Villa-Fountain Gap on Monday October 7th October 23rd 2013

Motorists and pedestrians are being advised to exercise extra caution, as the Ministry of Transport and Works prepares to begin rehabilitative work on the Vigie Highway Project, between the Arnos Vale Roundabout and the Villa-Fountain Gap.

A release from the Agency for Public Information, API, says work on the project is scheduled to begin on Monday October 7th

Chief Engineer, Brent Bailey says certain traffic restrictions will be in place. Mr. Bailey noted that no south bound traffic (Mesopotamia-Kingstown) will be allowed on the Vigie Highway beyond the Belair Junction.

He said that south bound traffic will turn right at the Belair Junction unto the Belair Main road then will proceed unto the Belair By-pass route which passes “the little” Bakery, then unto the Cane Hall Road passing the Vinlec Cane Hall Power Station and enter the Windward Highway at the KFC Junction.

The Chief Engineer noted that North bound traffic (Kingstown to Mesopotamia) along the Cane Hall Road will be prohibited from travelling beyond the entrance to VINLEC compound towards Belair.

He noted however that motorists traveling north along the Vigie Highway from the Arnos Vale Roundabout will proceed as usual on the designated lane as directed by the contractor and the road signs in place.

Work on the Vigie Highway Project is expected to last for the next six months. Mr. Bailey is appealing for the co-operation of the general public,  and pledged that they will be moving expeditiously to minimize any interruptions.   K-Electric Company limited is the contractor for the project.
