An estimated 1.3 million EC dollars in building materials is said to have been destroyed in the fire that gutted a building and its contents on the compound of the state-owned Public Works facility in Arnos Vale, on Thursday, 7th January.

Speaking on a Radio program, Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, said that he was given that estimated value by the Minister of Housing, Hon. Montgomery Daniel.

The Prime Minister told reporters at a media conference, held at Cabinet Room on the day of the fire, that the police has suspected arson in relation to the fire that broke out after 2:00 a.m.

The Building serves as a storage facility for building material and hardware supplies for the Government.
