Community Liaison Officer for the South Leeward Highway Rehabilitation and Improvement Project, Mr. Marlon Stevenson, said that they are paying significant attention to the issue of proper drainage throughout the entire project.

Mr. Stevenson told NBC News that it is important because proper drainage continues to be a major issue throughout the nation when it rains.  He said that as a result of poor drainage, the water often destroys the roads, as well as cause flooding.

Mr. Stevenson further stated that addressing proper drainage issues on the South Leeward project would also help to alleviate the problems faced at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, and they are also putting a number of measures in place to reduce the incidence of flooding at the Hospital.
