Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Works, Lands and Physical Panning, Montgomery Daniel has appealed to people across the country who occupy state lands, to contact the Physical Planning Department, to regularize the ownership of these lands.
He made this appeal during his contribution to the 2025 budget debate.
Minister Daniel said the Government continues to streamline all the processes for land ownership and management across the country.
He said as a result of this, it is important that people in squatter settlements make the relevant moves towards owning the lands they occupy.
"This Unit continues to make an appeal to all illegal users and occupiers of state lands to come to the office and to regularize their occupancy of these lands. This is something that has been worrying to the department and they continue to make that appeal to the general public, so that they have legal means in occupying these lands. The Physical Planning unit is to facilitate sustainable national development of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines through effective land use planning and regulations thereby ensuring the optimal utilization of our limited land resources."
Minister Daniel said the Government is in the process of establishing an Electronic Single Window for Land and Property Transactions, which they hope to have in operation by the middle of this year.
"This year an aerial survey is being done to give more precise data as to land boundaries and quantum of land within the state. Through the Digital Transformation Project an Electronic Single Window for Land and Property Transaction is being established so that the registration and transfer of land can be done by title and not by deed, this is a less costly exercise Madame Speaker. We hope that this project will get on the way by mid of this year and bring more efficiency within that the department. The Land Management Unit Madame Speaker works within tandem with the Survey's Department to manage and control state lands."
