Minister of Transport, Works, Lands and Physical Planning, Montgomery Daniel said rehabilitative work on the road from Diamonds to Mt. Grenan in the South-Central Windward Constituency is expected to be completed by February next year.
He made this statement while responding to a question in Parliament recently.
Minister Daniel said a lot of work has already been done on the road which is being carried out as part of the National Road Rehabilitation Project.
He outlined some of the work which is expected to be done in the second leg of the project.
"Madame Speaker leg two (2) of the Diamond Freedom Road one thousand, three hundred by five meters (1300 x 5) meters (m) length (l) by width (w) of asphalt pavement with associated drainage works is outstanding. The pedestrian bridge across to the Diamond Village playing field near the Diamond Scott open area, retaining walls, box drains, culverts and other works to be undertaken inclusive of accommodation works for properties along the road."
Minister Daniel said the project is being carried out with a sum of close to fifteen million dollars.
"The works for Lots Three (3) Package fourteen (14) on the Diamonds Feeder Roads Project under the National Road Rehabilitation Project has a programmed completion date of February 27th, 2026, and the Diamond Freedom Road Contract has been awarded to OECC in the amount of fourteen million, nine hundred and seventy -two thousand, three hundred and twenty-four dollars and fifty-three cents ($14,972,324.53) with two million, sixty five thousand, one hundred and forty eight dollars and twenty-one cents ($2,65,148.21) for VAT and twelve million, nine hundred and seven thousand, one hundred and seventy -six dollars, and thirty-two cents ($12,907,176.32) for the direct and indirect works on that project"
