Authorized Electrical Works to be Performed
Class A
General ElectricianPrerequisites
- Holds level 2 of the Caribbean Vocational Qualification or the National Vocational Qualification certificates, Level 2 from the Sector Skills Development Agency or equivalent qualifications;
- Has at least one year of active experience in performing electrical installation; and
- Has a basic knowledge of the provisions of the Electricity Supply Act and the BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations as published by the British Standard Institute (BSI) and the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET);
Authorized Electrical Works
- Authorized to perform work on any system whose voltage does not exceed two hundred and thirty (230) volts or twenty point eight (20.8) amperes (5000W or 5 kW load);
Class B
Intermediate ElectricianPrerequisites
- Holds level 3 of the Caribbean Vocational Qualification, the Sector Skills Development Agency, or an Associate Degree from the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Community College or equivalent qualifications;
- Has at least three years of active experience in performing electrical installation; and
- Has a working knowledge of the provisions of the Electricity Supply Act and the BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations as published by the British Standard Institute (BSI) and the Electrician Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET).
Class B1
- Prerequisites: Intermediate Electrician Level for a person who holds Class B qualifications in accordance with paragraph (b) and holds a level 2 certificate in photovoltaic installation from the Sector Skills Development Agency or equivalent;
- Authorized Works: Authorized to perform work on any system whose voltage does not exceed two hundred and thirty (230) volts or more than sixty-two point five (62.5) amperes (> 15000W or 15 kW load) and 5Kw Photovoltaic system;
Authorized Electrical Works
- Authorized to perform work on any system whose voltage does not exceed two hundred and thirty (230) volts or less than sixty-two point five (62.5) amperes (< 15000W or 15 kW load);
Class C
Advanced ElectricianPrerequisites
- Holds the Caribbean Vocational Qualification or National Vocational Qualification level 4; the Sector Skills Development Agency or equivalent
- Has at least five years of active experience in performing domestic electrical installation; and
- Has an advanced knowledge of the provisions of the Electricity Supply Act and the BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations as published by the British Standard Institute (BSI) and the Electrician Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET);
Class C1
- Prerequisites: Advanced Electrician Level for a person who holds Class C qualifications in accordance with paragraph (d) and holds a level 3 certificate in photovoltaic installation from the Sector Skills Development Agency or equivalent;
- Authorized Works: Authorized to perform work on any system whose voltage does not exceed four hundred (400) volts or less than eight hundred (800) amperes and 50 KW Photovoltaic system
Authorized Electrical Works
- Authorized to perform work on any system whose voltage does not exceed four hundred (400) volts or less than eight hundred (800) amperes;
Class D
Master Electrical ContractorPrerequisites
- Holds a degree in electrical engineering or equivalent;
- Has at least ten years of active experience in performing domestic and commercial electrical installation;
- Has managerial or supervisory training;
- Has experience in electrical contracting projects;
- Has an advanced knowledge of the provision of the Electricity Supply Act and the BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulation as published by the British Standards Institute (BSI) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET);
Class D1
- Prerequisites: Master Electrical Contractor Level for a person who holds Class D qualifications in accordance with paragraph (f) and holds a North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioner (NABCEP) certification, or holds a Photovoltaic Installation Professional Certificate (PV1PC) or equivalent.
- Authorized Works: Authorized to perform work on any system whose voltage does exceeds four hundred (400) volts or eight hundred (800) amperes. 50 KW Photovoltaic system and above.
Authorized Electrical Works
- Authorized to perform work on any system whose voltage does not exceeds four hundred (400) volts or eight hundred (800) amperes;
